It don’t come easy for some, but it definitely does for Isaiah. After a gruelling first semi-final this morning in Kyiv’s International Exhibition Centre, Australia has secured a place at the 2017 Eurovision Song Contest final.
Of 18 competitors in this morning’s semi (10pm in Kyiv), only 10 were selected to continue through to the finals.
Isaiah’s ‘Don’t Come Easy’ had the challenging job of impressing audiences early in the lineup, being the third song to take the stage. Fortunately, it was a challenge he rose to.

The 17-year-old rocked a rotating stage, belting notes most of us dream to hit. The crowd appeared to respond with love and support. It was more than enough to get him across the line.

But Isaiah had some stiff competition this morning. Crowd and betting odd favourites Sweden made glided through to the finals with a quirky treadmill dance routine. Belgium’s edgy Blanche, another favourite wowed the crowd with big bold pyrotechnics, and Azerbaijan’s DiHaj got aerial and interactive with a futuristic performance.
Moldova and their throwback to the Epic Sax Man have also qualified for the final, along with Cyprus and their song 'Gravity'.
Georgia, Albania, Finland, Iceland, Slovenia, and Latvia did not make it through.
On Friday morning, 18 more countries will battle for a place in the final, including fellow Aussie Anja Nissen representing Denmark.
Congratulations, Isaiah. You've done your country proud.
