Twitter hilariously slams journalist for judging Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez's outfit

At 29-years-old, Ocasio-Cortez this month became the youngest woman ever elected to congress, making her a prime target for Washington misogyny.

When journalist Eddie Scarry tweeted a photo of newly elected congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, with the core purpose of suggesting that her outfit wasn't working class enough, he must've known there would be some backlash.

But did he know there would be so much? And that it would be so hilarious? Doubtful.

At 29, Ocasio-Cortez this month became the youngest woman ever elected to congress. Her surprise win over 10-term Democratic incumbent New York Rep. Joe Crowley is credited to her broad appeal with working class voters. Before entering politics, the New York native was working as a bartender - and she's been vocal about her financial struggles while campaigning.

“I have three months without a salary before I’m a member of Congress. So, how do I get an apartment?” Ocasio-Cortez, 29, told the following her election.

“We’re kind of just dealing with the logistics of it day by day, but I’ve really been just kind of squirreling away and then hoping that gets me to January.”

So when Scarry shared his since-deleted tweet showing a from-behind snap of Ocasio-Cortez, claiming her clothes looked too expensive, it was more than just a judgement of taste, but a judgement of the politician's integrity.

Ocasio-Cortez was quick to reply, tweeting: "If I walked into Congress wearing a sack, they would laugh & take a picture of my backside."

She added: "If I walk in with my best sale-rack clothes, they laugh & take a picture of my backside.

"Dark hates light - that’s why you tune it out."

It soon became apparent that lots of social media users agreed with her.
Then came the genius interpretations...
Let's chalk this one up as a lesson learned the hard way, hey Eddie?
