The cover of this week's issue of New Yorker is getting attention for all the right reasons.
Following last week's history-making US mid-term elections, which saw a record number of women and people of colour voted to Congress, the iconic magazine's cover artwork used water-colours and ink to encapsulate a spirit of change and diversity.
Created by longtime New Yorker illustrator Barry Blitt, the cover highlights the winds of change heading to Capitol Hill.
The moving artwork features Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez of New York, who last week became the youngest woman ever elected to Congress, Ilhan Omar, the first Muslim-America congresswoman, and Sharice Davids, the first Native-American congresswoman.
With more women serving in Congress than ever before, artist Blitt said of his cover: “In all the rancor and madness of the past few weeks (hell, the past few years), it appears we’ve just lived through a nice moment."
Commenting on being depicted "busting through these doors", Omar promises to keep them wide open.
