CNN's annual New Year's Eve broadcast was as wild as ever, ringing in 2018 with a truly entertaining show that included highlights like  and showcasing a gas mask bong.

The broadcast also allowed CNN regular Don Lemon to show off his boyfriend. Reporting from the same New Orleans bar as the year prior with co-host Brooke Baldwin, the pair downed a few shots on-air before celebrating the year that was.

"It was like a confessional a year ago," Baldwin joked to Lemon, "You were like, I’m ready for a relationship, 2016 was the worst".

Lemon's rant during the New Year's Eve 2016/2017 broadcast went somewhat viral on Twitter, as he (under what sounded like probably a few more shots) delved into his dating struggles, deciding that 2017 he'd be "less self-centred".
Lemon responded, "Well, it happened! He was here last year in the bar," then to Baldwin, "It’s your one year anniversary of meeting him, and hanging out". Blowing a kiss to his partner who was, again, in the bar for the broadcast.

Viewers were huge fans of Lemon's happy ending for his 2016 woes, after spilling his heart the year prior.
Lemon that the pair hadn't actually met in the bar the year earlier, but he had brought his partner, Tim Malone, to the bar with him for the filming.
Some viewers also applauded CNN for allowing three prominent out gay men to work on one of the biggest broadcasts of the year.

The broadcast was headlined by Anderson Cooper and his BFF Andy Cohen, taking over for Kathy Griffen who was fired from the show in May as fallout for .

Unfortunately, the new duo didn't win viewers over with many on Twitter complaining the broadcast was wasn't doing it for them. Still, The New Yorker's tweeted her thoughts, then followed it up, noting the shift in representation on television.
