Earlier this week, Formula One world champ Lewis Hamilton came under fire for a particularly poor taste video where he shamed his nephew for wearing a princess dress on Christmas.
In the video posted to his Instagram where he has 5.7 million followers, the 32-year-old shouted at the young boy, "Why are you wearing a princess dress? Is this what you got for Christmas?"
"Why did you ask for a princess dress for Christmas?" Hamilton continued, "Boys don't wear princess dresses".
After going viral, Hamilton was forced to issue an apology across several tweets, saying that he had a "lapse in judgement".
Unfortunately, Hamilton's apology landed flat with many noticing him "liking" tweets that celebrated his outspokenness.
"You should never have to apologise to the PC brigade," one tweet read with another echoing, "People get offended over everything man they're pathetic".
The sincerity of Hamilton's apology aside, Boy George has stepped in to offer his two cents saying the hounds need to be called off, and Hamilton deserves "a break".
"Far worse is said everyday by far worse people with far less style!" George tweeted adding, "People make mistakes and that's how they learn!"
When a fan wrote back saying Hamilton had brought "shame to the entire racing community," George responded calling the backlash "overly dramatic".
As it stands, Hamilton is yet to "like" George's tweets.
Last month Boy George made headlines when he hung up during a radio interview with ABC's Fran Kelly, with the 56-year-old singer calling her line of questioning "boring".
