The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, Prince William and Kate Middleton began their India tour on April 10th. They arrived in Mumbai and headed directly to Mumbai’s iconic Taj Mahal Hotel where the couple first placed a wreath to acknowledge the sacrifices made by the hotel staff when terrorists struck the hotel on 26/11 in 2008.
A message on the wreath read: “In memory of those who lost their lives and those injured in the senseless atrocities at the Taj Mahal Palace Hotel. William, Catherine.”
The Royals then visited the Oval Maidan in Mumbai where the Duchess was seen playing cricket in presence of legendary Indian cricketers Sachin Tendulkar and Dilip Vengserkar as her husband Prince William took the fielding position.

During the dinner, William gave a speech, revealing how his then-newlywed wife previously told him that India was at the top of her list of places she wanted to visit.
“When Catherine and I were married, India was the first place on Catherine’s list that she told me that she wanted to visit,” he told attendees.
“Two children and five years later, we have finally made it – and we are both honoured to be here.”
