The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, Prince William and Kate Middleton are heading to India from 10-16 April. They will also be visiting the Himalayan kingdom of Bhutan on this trip.

According to an official , this visit to India is aimed at building a ‘personal relationship with a country that will play a major global role throughout Their Royal Highnesses’ lives’.

While paying their respect to the historical relationship between Britain and India, they will be focusing on understanding India as it is today and will be throughout the 21st century – a vibrant, entrepreneurial, aspirational nation that faces both, its challenges and huge opportunities with confidence, an official press release stated.
The itinerary of the Duke and the Duchess of Cambridge has been revealed.

Here are the 10 things on their Indian itinerary which covers five distinct locations over six days across four regions of India.

  • Their tour begins with Mumbai. They will arrive on 10th April in their scheduled flight and head to Taj Palace Hotel.

  • On arrival they will lay a wreath at a memorial inside the hotel and meet members of staff who helped protect guests during the 26/11 Mumbai terror attack.
  • The Duke and Duchess will then head to Mumbai’s most famous public spaces, Oval Maidan. They will watch a young person’s cricket match and also meet representatives and beneficiaries of three charities here – Magic Bus, Doorstep, and India’s Childline.

  • In the evening, William and Kate will be introduced to some of well-known names from Bollywood and the city’s thriving business world. A glittering reception and dinner will be hosted by The British High Commission in partnership with The British Asian Trust. There will be red carpet arrivals, dance and musical performances, and of course fashion. The event will raise funds for the three charities that Their Royal Highnesses will have met earlier in the day – Magic Bus, Doorstep, and Childline.
  • On their second day in Mumbai, they will meet with aspiring young entrepreneurs at a GREAT campaign event at a bar, restaurant and collaborative workspace called The Social.
  • They will then fly to Delhi where they will begin their Delhi programme with a wreath-laying at India Gate.

  • After India Gate, the Duke and Duchess will travel to Gandhi Smriti, the museum located in Old Birla House, where Mahatma Gandhi spent the last few years of his life.

  • That evening, the British High Commissioner is throwing a birthday party for Queen’s 90th birthday which will be attended by William and Kate. Indian politicians and bureaucrats too have been invited to this event where Prince William is expected to deliver a short speech in honour of his grandma’s 90th birthday.
  • After Delhi, their Royal Highnesses will visit the Kaziranga National Park in the state of Assam, where over a campfire, they will meet local people and see dance and musical performances. They will also go for an open-air safari during their stay here.
  • They will then fly out to Bhutan for two days – 14th and 15th April before returning to Agra on 16th April. Prince William and Duchess will directly head to the iconic Taj Mahal where Prince William hopes to relive the memories of his mother’s visit 24 years ago in 1992.
