A young boy thinks his new goldfish is gay, much to the horror of his conservative father. Director and writer of short film 'Goldfish' Yorgos Angelopoulos talks to SBS Greek

Yorgos Angelopoulos's film deals with the story of 7-year-old Stratis when he tells his father that the goldfish that he got for his birthday is gay and his name is "Tom", from the British diver Tom Daley.

The young filmmaker who is making his debut in the film industry told SBS Greek that the idea was born out of his personal experiences and his relationship with his father.
'The film shows a typical Greek family, with some stereotypical ideas. I wanted to put the topic from a different perspective and make it a bit funny and a bit melodramatic.'

Mr. Angelopoulos argues that as long as there are behaviours on a daily basis that bring people into a difficult position and are forced to apologize without reason, such films should continue to be made.
