The Australian Glbtiq Multicultural Council - AGMC (AGMC), the peak body for individuals and groups from LGBTIQA+ and multicultural backgrounds, as well as its allies and supporters, is organizing the 2018 Living & Loving in Diversity National Conference. Greek and Gay Support Network president John Tzimas talks to SBS Greek.


The conference will examine what has happened in the last 10 years for multicultural and/or multi-faith LGBTIQA+ people and their communities. Also, the speakers and panelists will analyze the progress that has been achieved so far toward equality. Also, it will take a look whether has been a change in approach to connecting with multicultural or LGBTIQA+ communities. 

The conference which is titled “Living and Loving in Diversity”, will cover the following subjects: Socio-political, youth, older adults, refugee and asylum seekers, new and emerging communities, multi-faith, health and well being, disability, international research and movements, local advocacy programs and strategies.

The line up of speakers includes Joseph Carmel Chetcuti, Dr. Maria Pallotta-Chiarolli, Benjamin Law, Tina & Renee Dixon, Ro Allen, and Dr. Lucetta Kam. Highlights of the social functions include a Welcome Reception, the United We Feast dinner event and the AGMC book launch. 

AGMC’s vision is to live in a world without prejudice and discrimination on the basis of sexuality, sex, gender, race, culture, and religion in celebration of our diverse and unique identities. AGMC’s mission is to advocate for the rights of multicultural and multifaith LGBTIQ communities through advocacy, research, education, and community events.
