No matter how much we love avocado on toast - and we do! – we have to admit it’s not really the sort of thing you can stash in the fridge or freezer, ready to grab at a moment’s notice (although you can certainly ). Not so good for stashing in your bag ready for when the hangries are threatening to strike, either.

Good news avo lovers. The avo bliss ball is here to save the day.

Obviously this is not avo on toast. Not even close. But we reckon avo’s sweet side (it is technically a fruit, after all) deserves some time in the spotlight, so for fruity avocado bliss balls from (Mondays 7.70pm on Food Network, starting July 2) makes us very happy. It boasts healthy fat from the avocado, lemon juice and zest balance out the sweetness from dried apricots, and toasted almond and coconut add extra nuttiness. You can make them ahead and store them in the fridge or freezer, and they’re way more portable than avo on toast!

And you can change up the fruit, too.

“Great in the freezer, good for little snacks and if you want to change the flavourings up, dried figs and dates are really lovely in here, as well as raw cacao,” says series chef .

These little bliss balls pop up when the series turns its attention to the role of fat in our daily diet – catch that episode on Monday July 16.

In the meantime, if you’d like to explore avocado’s sweet side, how about these ideas from SBS Food: avocado icing, an avocado loaf and avocado choc mousse?
