What to expect in 'The Handmaid's Tale' season 3

The resistance is rising in the new season of The Handmaid’s Tale. Here’s everything you need to know about the return of everyone’s favourite dystopian drama.

 

When is The Handmaid’s Tale coming back?

The Handmaid’s Tale premieres in Australia on Thursday 6 June 2019, exclusively on SBS.

SBS will air the double-episode season premiere of The Handmaid’s Tale at 8.30pm Thursday 6 June, with episodes 1-3 available at  SBS On Demand. A second double episode will air on Thursday 13 June, with weekly episodes to follow.

All episodes will be available to stream weekly at SBS On Demand.

“Heresy, that’s what you get punished for,” June says in the trailer above. “Not for being part of the resistance, because officially, there is no resistance. Not for helping people escape, because officially, there’s no such thing as escape.”

“If I’m going to change things, I’m going to need allies,” she adds. “Allies with power.”

 

What’s going to happen in The Handmaid’s Tale season three?

Nice try. You’ll have to watch to find out. But we do know:

Offred/June, having declined the offer to flee Gilead in that cliffhanger finale of season two, will stay to rescue her daughter Hannah. 

Ofglen/Ofjoseph/Emily will endeavour to make it to safety in Canada with June and Nick’s baby, Nichole. Will she make it over the border with a Gilead baby? If so, what will that mean to the escapees of Little America, Luke and Moira?

The house of Waterford will deal with the fallout of Serena’s decision to hand the baby over to June, in the epic escape plan executed by the stealthy Marthas. We saw how Fred reacted to Serena’s request for girls to learn to read in order to study the bible.  How will he respond to her giving away ‘their’ child?
