Leaphorn is determined to find the perpetrator but doing so will see him come face to face with the traumas of his past. Over two gripping seasons, Dark Winds sees the mythical meet the murderous, as Leaphorn’s investigations see him struggle to balance his loyalty to his community with the mounting pressure to find answers. Rough Cut
Contemporary crime thriller Rough Cut is a gritty gem of a series that gives the Welsh language a standout small screen moment. Young car thief Carbo (Gwïon Morris Jones) is no stranger to the dark back streets of Cardiff, but getting mixed up with mysterious gang ‘The Unknowns’ sees him in way over his head. Ex-military man and garage owner Mici Finn (Mark Lewis Jones) could be the answer to Carbo’s problems, but quickly pulls the young con into a criminal world with higher stakes than he is used to. Remaining faithful to the novel Dal Y Mellt (‘Catch the Lightning’) by Welsh actor turned author Iwan ‘Iwcs’ Roberts, this is bingeable crime drama with a welcome smattering of humour.

Elvira
For the titular character of eight-part Danish language drama Elvira, balancing her job as a brothel receptionist with caring for her drug-addicted brother Sixten (Anton Hjejle) and keeping an eye on corrupt cop, brothel owner, and childhood friend Køster (Peter Plaugborg) makes for a mundane and unfulfilling existence. That is, until a sex worker in debt to Køster disappears, and Elvira (Sara Klein Larsen) feels a personal responsibility to discover what happened and retrieve the cash before it’s too late. It’s an investigation that shakes up her world, as Elvira realises she has more to offer than her unambitious past would suggest. What starts with a fairly standard crime becomes a series that is anything but standard thanks to its unlikely, and increasingly endearing, heroine.
