When the producers of Humans and Broadchurch are behind a show, you know you’re onto a winner. Their thrilling drama series Tin Star from creator Rowan Joffe (Before I Go To Sleep, The American) shines bright, drawing in viewers addicted to the brewing drama of the Worth family in their new life in small-town Canada, its patriarch, Jim (and his alter-ego Jack) played to gripping effect by a ragged Tim Roth.

Season 2 picks up where season 1 left us hanging – on a snow-covered mountain side in the Rockies where Jim’s daughter Anna (Abigail Lawrie) has shot Jim in the chest, wife Angela (Genevieve O’Reilly) distraught at her crumbled family.

Anna has moved in with Pastor Johan Nickel (John Lynch) and his religious Ammonite family, seeking solace. But things in the seemingly peaceful home soon take a turn, forcing Anna to seek Jim’s help, setting up a most compelling 10-episode run.

Giving a taste of what’s to come, an inevitable showdown with the Pastor, played by his real-life friend. “Expect trouble. I don’t think [Jim] buys into the whole heaven and hell situation too easily.”

In defence of his family from outside attack, he ended up causing its rupture. Now, Jim has to fight tooth and nail to win Angela and Anna back.

Seasons 1 and 2 of Tin Star are now streaming
