'8 Out of 10 Cats does Countdown' does Christmas

It's the panel show that blends the search for nine-letter words with razor-sharp wit. And now it's bringing some Christmas cheer as well. (SBS Viceland)

"Hello and welcome to the 8 Out Of 10 Cats Does Countdown Christmas Special, a show all about letters, numbers, conundrums and Christmas. Did you know, for example, Santa Claus has many different names around the world, Pere Noel in France, Sinterklaas in Holland and Failed Actor in your local shopping centre."

So begins host Jimmy Carr in this especially festive edition of everyone's favourite comedy and quiz show mash-up. 

Regular team captains Sean Lock and Jon Richardson are joined by guests Kathy Burke and Russell Howard to provide innuendo-laden insults, seasonal surprises and laughs aplenty. Countdown's resident lexicographer Susie Dent takes her place in Dictionary Corner with Joe Lycet, while mathematics whizz Rachel Riley stands at the ready with letters and numbers. 

8 Out of 10 Cats Does Countdown Christmas Special will hit our screens on Christmas night (Wednesday December 25 at 7.30pm) on SBS Viceland.  The episode will be available to stream at SBS On Demand after broadcast.
