It was that MTV had invited transgender members of the US armed forces to attend the VMAs—a show of support following US President’s Trump’s trans military ban.

GLAAD has now introduced the group of six who are attending the iconic awards night held this year in Inglewood, California.
GLAAD President and CEO Sarah Kate Ellis has praised MTV for inviting the service people to today's ceremony.

"MTV continues to be a pioneer and fierce advocate for the LGBTQ community by giving one of the most visible platforms to voices that need to be heard,” she said.

“Throughout all the tweets, memos, and speculation, brave transgender Americans are still serving their country and defending the freedoms of this nation while meeting the same rigorous standards of their peers. We are proud to stand with them.”

GLAAD has posted photos of each transgender service person and given a brief description of their roles across the Air Force, Navy, Marine Corps and Army.
President Trump has now reinstating the ban on transgender people in the military that was lifted during Barack Obama's presidency.
