When it was announced this week that Gillian Anderson will play British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher in the upcoming third season of The Crown, some fans were left feeling conflicted.

Hot on the heels of her role as a meddling sex therapist in Sex Education, the X-Files dreamboat has some fans feeling torn between their love for Anderson and their dislike for Thatcher.

"My sheer lust for colliding with my utter disdain for Margaret Thatcher can only be a recipe for disaster!" One fan tweeted.

"Oh great, cast Gillian Anderson as Thatcher so now everyone's going to like Thatcher," wrote another.
Anderson will be joined on the popular Netflix series by Academy Award-winning Olivia Coleman, who will take over the role of Queen Elizabeth from Claire Foy.

The new season will be set in 1964, before progressing to the tumultuous years of Princess Diana in season four.

Filming is believed to have begun in July of last year, with no screening date announced.
