Porte is coming off the back of a third-placed finish at the Tour de France and, at 35 years old, remains motivated for what's to come.

"It’s been an unbelievable five days in Paris," Porte told Cycling Central's David McKenzie.

“I’m motivated after being on the podium in the Tour and it just feels like there’s no pressure on me now.

“I’ve done what I set out to do and I really think I’ve matured in these past three weeks.

“I’m really looking forward to Sunday.”

While the experienced climber is unsure as to who will be the race's protected rider, Porte assured McKenzie he had no problem "sacrificing" himself for best friend Michael Matthews.

“We’ve got guys that are prepared to sacrifice for each other," he added.

“I don’t think there’s any real big rivalries which some of the other countries (Belgium, Italy) will have.

“The thing with us is that we’re all committed to one goal and that’s either Michael or myself.

“I don’t see us having any politics or dramas.”
