While a career in Canberra might seem out of reach for Anthony Mundine, one must remember The Man has built a career on defying expectations.
“I want to put on a tremendous fight and then I might run for prime minster, who knows?,” he told NITV News.
The last time Anthony Mundine and Danny Green met in the ring, it was 2006 and at the time the most lucrative fight in Australian history. Mundine vividly recalls it.
“I remember everything about it, the build-up. The fight sometimes, it was slow motion.”
The figure of this fight hasn’t been revealed, but it’s rumoured to be worth tens of millions of dollars. Mundine was awarded the win on points a decade ago, but this time he doesn’t want to put the judges in that position again.
“If a knock out comes, I’m not going to go looking for it, but if a knockout comes, I know if I tag him, I’m going to hurt him because speed is power and my accuracy is second to none, he says.
Mundine 41 and Green 43 will go head to head in what some have labelled a ‘money spinner’ for two fighters past their prime.
“I love challenges and obviously it’s a bitter rivalry with me and Green. He's been talking that smack about weight all the time and I want to put that to bed and prove that I'm the better fighter, regardless,” he added.

It’s yet to be seen if Choc will pursue a career in office once he hangs up the gloves, but if history has taught us anything, it may be foolish to write him off completely.
