The NRL has said it is investigating the incident of racial abuse, allegedly directed at Latrell Mitchell (r) and Cody Walker (middle).

The NRL's Integrity Unit says it is investigating after reports emerged of a racial vilification incident over the weekend.

South Sydney Rabbitohs played against the Illawarra Dragons at Kogarah's Jubilee Stadium on Saturday night.

According to a statement from the Rabbitohs, Latrell Mitchell and Cody Walker were allegedly racially abused during the match.
"The Rabbitohs were informed of the incident by a member of the public as well as the NRL," the statement reads.

"The Rabbitohs stand in condemnation of any form of racism in our sport, and society in general, and will support the NRL’s investigation in any way possible."

Mitchell, a Biripi Wiradjuri Worimi Gumbaynggirr man, has in recent months been the subject of intense booing from fans of rival clubs.

However he was banned from attending all future NRL matches.
