The Muslim women's garment, the Burqa has come under intense scrutiny in recent weeks.
Much of the debate has centred on whether it presents a security risk if those wearing the Burqa are unable to be identified.
Now, Palmer United Party Senator Jacqui Lambie has proposed new laws that would see people with face coverings in public fined on the spot up to $3,400.
The draft bill could also see parents imprisoned for forcing their teenage girls to wear a burqa.
Muslim Legal Network spokeswoman Lydia Shelly spoke with Widyan Al Ubudy about what these laws would mean for her community.
