Tropical Cyclone Winston: how you can help

Fiji has been battered by its worst cyclone in history. Here’s how you can help.

At least 21 people have been confirmed dead in Fiji as the Pacific nation begins the enormous task of rebuilding in the wake of the devastating Cyclone Winston.
The category five cyclone was one of the most powerful ever recorded in the Southern Hemisphere with wind gusts over 300 kilometres per hour.

Here’s how you can help:

is working in evacuation centres, helping to register families, distribute relief supplies and trace missing people. As the winds and waves ease, emergency response teams will provide support to the outer islands of Fiji, which bore the full brunt of the terrible storm.

has a team on the ground in Fiji, working with their partners - Live and Learn. They are assessing the damage and are set to support the Fiji Government in any emergency response efforts.

is ready to deploy staff from the region and Australia should assistance be required. Oxfam has expertise in water supply, sanitation and hygiene, emergency food security and livelihoods.

is particularly concerned for children in the worst affected regions. It has teachers ready to support children in evacuation centres, and will work to ensure children return to school, and a sense of normality, as quickly as possible.

 will help to deliver emergency water and other supplies, set up child-friendly shelters, provide counselling for children and help get kids back to school. 

 is working to address peoples' immediate needs, support Fijian families and work with affected populations to rebuild livelihoods.
