Short, Satterthwaite win T20 awards

Hobart's D'Arcy Short and Melbourne Renegades allrounder Amy Satterthwaite have won the BBL and WBBL player of the tournament awards.

Hobart Hurricanes batsman D'Arcy Short has been named the BBL's player of the tournament.

And New Zealand allrounder Amy Satterthwaite (Melbourne Renegades) has won the WBBL's player of the tournament award.

Short led BBL scorers in the minor rounds with 504 runs from 10 innings.

The powerful lefthander's tournament also featured a record-breaking 122 not out from 69 balls against Brisbane Heat - the highest-ever BBL score.

The two field umpires cast votes on a 3-2-1 basis after each game with Short collecting 26 votes.

Sydney Thunder's Shane Watson (18 votes) was next-best with Adelaide Strikers wicketkeeper-batsman Alex Carey third on 16 votes.

In the WBBL, Satterthwaite was rewarded for a stellar tournament - she made 368 runs at an average of 33.45 and also took 11 wickets.

Satterthwaite polled 35 votes to win from Perth Scorchers captain Elyse Villani (28) and Sydney Sixers skipper Ellyse Perry (27).
