A New Zealand offer to accept asylum seekers in Australian-run camps on Nauru and Manus Island still stands.

Prime Minister Bill English revealed the invitation to take 150 remains on the table - despite a US resettlement deal Canberra struck with the outgoing Obama administration - after his meeting with Malcolm Turnbull in Queenstown on Friday.

"It's entirely up to them. We just want to be clear that the offer remains there. They've indicated their appreciation of it and that's about as far as it's gone," Mr English told reporters.
