Australian actor Nicole Kidman and US singer Pink have made large donations to Australian fire services as a local comedian's fundraiser surpassed $22 million after just two days.

On Instagram on Sunday, Nicole Kidman said she would donate $500,000 to firefighters.

The fundraiser has been shared by a number of celebrities.

Queer Eye star Jonathan Van Ness wrote that his "heart has been broken these last days watching the situation deteriorate there" and encouraged his followers to donate to Barber's fundraiser.
The link to the fundraiser was also shared by singer Lizzo, who was headlining FOMO festival in Brisbane, and actors Natalie Portman and Selma Blair.

Hugh Jackman posted a photo on Instagram directing users to where they can help out.
And Nick Kroll teamed with Australian actor and filmmaker Joel Edgerton to raise money for the NSW RFS to "combat the terrible fires ravaging Australia".
