A beaming Meghan Markle shared loving smiles and giggles as she arrived at Windsor Castle to marry Prince Harry.

Arriving at the historic St George's Chapel in the Queen's burgundy Rolls-Royce Phantom IV shortly before midday, Meghan stepped out to cheers from hundreds of onlookers while a cast of A-list celebrities and senior members of the royal family waited inside.

The 36-year-old American chose an white Givenchy wedding dress featuring long sleeves and a wide bateau neckline by British designer Clare Waight Keller for her big day.

Under her long lace-trimmed veil was Queen Mary's diamond bandeau tiara, lent to her by The Queen.

As she prepared to make her solo journey down the first part of the aisle, Megan stood beaming at the chapel's entrance as trumpets announced her arrival.

An anxious but happy looking Prince Harry, 33, stood beside older brother and best man Prince William at the altar as they waited to catch a glimpse of the bride.

Both chose to don the frockcoat uniform of the Blues and Royals, in a nod to their military service.

As Meghan began her walk down the aisle, following behind her were 10 young page boys and bridesmaids including four-year-old Prince George and three-year-old Princess Charlotte, children of Prince William and the Duchess of Cambridge.

The brothers' father Prince Charles met his future daughter-in-law at the entrance to the Quire and accompanied her down the rest of the aisle, possibly trying to calm any nerves she had with some words of support.

Harry grinned as his bride approached and she appeared to mouth "hi" as a soprano sang a work by Handel.

Watched on by the Queen and Meghan's mother Doria Ragland, the couple exchanged a few nervous comments and beamed at each other before sharing a quick giggle as they waited for the service to begin.

"You look amazing," Harry told his bride.

Meghan - who had been married before - had earlier set off for the chapel from the nearby luxury Cliveden House Hotel where she had spent the night with her mother.

Mother and daughter smiled and chatted as their Queen's Rolls-Royce carried them on what would be Meghan's last car journey as a commoner.

As they drove through the sunny streets of Windsor, the thousands of cheering fans who had lined the streets caught a fleeting glimpse of the bride's dress, her tiara and veil covering her face as she waved to them.

Waiting for her at St George's Chapel were not only her new royal in-laws including the Queen but also a star-studded list of A-list celebrities including talk show host Oprah Winfrey, George and Amal Clooney, David and Victoria Beckham, Elton John, James Blunt and her former co-stars from TV drama Suits.
