The diverse community of Port Pirie, in collaboration with SBS, recently held a vibrant Eid program. The event saw active participation from people of many different cultures, making it a true celebration of multi-faith and multicultural Australia.


Port Pirie, the second-largest port in South Australia and the seventh-largest city in the state, is world-renowned for its minerals industry.

However, with the changing dynamics of Australia, Port Pirie has been transformed into a true representation of multicultural Australia.

The regional town, situated 223km north of Adelaide and with a population of around 18,000, is a drawcard for people from various countries around the world.

The colourful Eid dinner held over the weekend was a testament to the wider multi-faith and multicultural community of Australia, with strong representation from various cultures coming together to celebrate.
