Ammy Virk-starrer ‘Harjeeta’ has emerged as an undeniable proof that dismal performance at the box office is not necessarily a definitive indicator of a film’s quality or the fact that it wouldn’t find love at other places.

Directed by Vijay Kumar Arora, the big-budget film has bagged not one, but two recognitions at the 66th National Awards, becoming the 21st Punjabi film to win the highest national acclaim.

Harjeeta was adjudged the 'Best Punjabi Film' in the language category, while Sameep Singh, the debutant child actor who essayed the role of a young Harjeet, bagged the 'Best Child Artiste' honour.
Expressing his gratitude after the film’s big win at the National Awards, singer-actor Ammy Virk, who had transformed his body for the role, wrote that the experience taught him the real worth of hard work.

The 27-year-old also shared an interesting message he had received from the film’s writer, Jagdeep Sidhu at the time of Harjeeta’s release in May 2018.

In the message, Mr Sidhu had sent a consoling message to Virk explaining that in the real world, hard work does not always translate into financial gains and how he must move on in his career.
Directed by Vijay Kumar Arora, Harjeeta is a biopic based on the life and struggles of Harjeet Singh, a young hockey player who captained the Indian squad at the 2016 Men’s Hockey Junior World Cup. It was under his captaincy that India clinched the World Cup after a wait of nearly two decades.

While Ammy and Sameep played Harjeet, the film also starred Sawan Rupowali, Raj Jhinjer and Gurpreet K Bhangu and Bollywood’s acclaimed actor Pankaj Tripathi in key roles.
