Mystery has deepened in the Tej Chitnis disappearance case. According to a report in The Age, Tej has not been attending his health sciences course at Deakin University since 2014.

However, his family denies having information in this regard.

Tej was enrolled in a health sciences course at Deakin's Geelong campus. He is believed to have planned to study medicine at Monash University, but had failed to graduate from Deakin and would not have been able to transfer.

Reva Chitnis, Tej's mother had told SBS Punjabi that he had expressed uncertainty about his career.

“He told us he didn’t know what to do in his life. We told him to take a break. You don’t need to worry about your whole life when you are just 21. Maybe, that’s the pressure he put on himself rather than his parents,” said Mrs. Chitnis.
“If he has gone on his own accord, there was something he was hiding from us, and the stress he has been under or whatever… that’s not the child we know," she added.

Tej hasn't been heard from since April 27 after he left his Burwood East address.

His mobile phone had a ping near Healesville area and his car was spotted in the same area on the day he was last seen. His bank account or credit cards have not been used.
Police could have done more

Missing for nearly three weeks, the family felt the police could have done more.

"I think, they (police) could have done much more earlier. I understand they have processes and procedures to follow. But, the leads that we give if somebody acts upon them really quickly would be ok. They have only yesterday assigned a senior detective to look into it. For me, that’s too late already," Mrs. Chitnis had told SBS.

Anyone who has seen Tej or has any information is urged to contact the Forest hill Police Station on 88473600 or call 000.
