A ex-esquiadora e advogada Zali Steggall, que já foi campeã do mundo em slalom, anunciou que vai candidatar-se ao parlamento federal como independente no eleitorado de Warringah, em sydney, do ex-primeiro ministro Tony Abbott.
Ela diz que suas prioridades são aquecimento global, a economia, saúde e melhorar a política em geral.
Mas, o ministro federal da Educação, Dan Tehan, disse acreditar que Tony Abbott tem um passado sólido para ser reeleito:
"People under-estimate what Tony does within the community, for the community. They under-estimate his ability to campaign. There was talk before the last election that Tony might have been in trouble in Warringah - he was re-endorsed by the voters there quite strongly and I'm sure he will be prepared to put a very strong case again to his electorate."
