Ravi Shastri joins Sydney-based firm to bat for Australia-India ties

Indian cricket team's head coach Ravi Shastri will promote India-Australia ties in his new role as the member of the advisory board of Sydney based consultancy firm Newland Global Group.

Former Indian test cricketer Ravi Shastri has joined Newland Global Group's advisory board.

"Newland Global Group (NGG), a corporate advisory firm focused on Simplifying and Strengthening Trade & Investment ties between Australia and India, is delighted to announce the addition of a new member to its Advisory Board, Mr Ravi Shastri," said the firm in a statement.

Mr Shastri says he has seen massive progress in Australia India ties.

"In the period I have been with the Indian team, I have seen massive progress in Australia India ties. Our common English language shared history and Cricket has brought both countries together," he said in a statement.
There is an increasing awareness today, and the relationship will only grow in leaps and bounds.
Ravi Shastri played for the Indian national cricket team between 1981 and 1992 in both Tests and ODIs. 

In 2014, he was appointed as the Indian cricket team director for eight months from India's tour of England until the 2015 World Cup. In July 2017, he was appointed as the head coach of the Indian cricket team. In August 2019, he was re-appointed as the head coach of the senior men's Indian team.

In his new role as the member of NGG's advisory group, Ravi Shastri will work along with Australian cricketing legend Allan Border.

Rajiv Dube who has served at the highest echelons of India's prominent global conglomerates -TATA & Aditya Birla, a former diplomat and the author of the Indian government's 'Australia Economic Strategy' Anil Wadhwa and Dr G.K. Harinath OAM Chairperson, Multicultural NSW are also on the advisory board of Newland Global group.

“Cricket is a fantastic connector between both nations, and has enormous potential to be utilised for building strong business linkages. Sectors like pharmaceuticals, technology, infrastructure, agriprocessing, health, sports offer a plethora of opportunities to deliver on the bilateral aspirations,” said Dr Harinath OAM.

Cricket has always been at the forefront of India-Australia people to people ties. Prime Ministers of both the countries commented after recent test series between India and Australia which Indian cricket team won after a thrilling victory in the last match of the series at Gabba in Brisbane.
