Much to the dismay of the Indian cricket team fans in Brisbane, fans in Adelaide can look forward to the much-awaited Australia vs India series scheduled in 2018.

reports the Border-Gavaskar series’ opening test match between Australia and India will be played in Adelaide instead of Brisbane in December 2018.

India is scheduled to play against Australia in a four-match series during 2018-19.

The test match which was originally held at Gabba, Brisbane has been moved to Adelaide Oval in Adelaide.

The Adelaide test will be followed by a test match at Perth’s OPTUS Stadium, Melbourne and Sydney.

Cricket Australia and South Australian Cricket Association expect huge crowds in Adelaide.

“I would be hopeful we could play the first day-night Test between Australia and India in Adelaide. I would expect massive crowds and as much interest in an India day-night match as the Ashes,” SA Cricket Association chief executive Keith Bradshaw told .

“We would get a massive influx of interstate and overseas fans. We smashed all the records in the Ashes Test which showed what a success the day-night format is even with a Saturday start.

Neighbouring state, Victoria boasts of the largest Indian population in the country with 169,802 people and it is likely many cricket fans will choose to travel to neighbouring Adelaide (727 kms from Melbourne) to witness the day and night test.

Indian-Australian Nrupesh Thakor, who is an ardent fan of the Indian cricket team says, "I think it is a great opportunity. It has been a while since India played in Australia. Lets wait for the final schedule. I am sure, like me, many other cricket fans too will be thrilled to go for the test."
