Major Crime Investigation Unit detectives are appealing for public assistance after a hit-and-run collision in Melbourne on Saturday night left a 37-year-old pedestrian with critical injuries.
Jimmy Kalia was found by passers-by on Anderson Road about 11.10pm after he was hit by a north-bound sedan.
Police said the man was conscious after being hit but his condition severely deteriorated thereafter.
Ambulance Victoria spokesman John Mullen told the man suffered serious head injuries and was taken to the Royal Melbourne Hospital in a critical condition.

His wife has released an image in hope someone with information will come forward to assist police in their investigation.
The police say the vehicle is believed to have continued without giving assistance.
Investigators have identified the sedan as a Toyota Camry, as the result of parts located at the scene.
Police believe the vehicle will have sustained damage.
