Indian origin Arjun Nair has been selected to play for the New South Wales cricket team in the upcoming Sheffield Shield match against South Australia.
Born to Indian immigrants who reside in Canberra, Arjun Nair is an off-spinner and has earned quite a reputation with his abilities to bowl a ‘doosra’ to perfection. Just like the Caribbean spinner Sunil Narine, Arjun too can turn the ball both ways.
Taking note of this talent, the NSW selectors have chosen him for their clash against the Redbacks at Coffs Harbour.
“Arjun Nair is one you need to look out for, he’s a massive talent,” NSW coach Trent Johnston told Fairfax Media before the start of the season. “I saw him play NSW versus Queensland schoolboys and I said to Freddy [NSW state talent manager David Freedman]: ‘I don’t care what he’s doing, he’s going to be playing in my [NSW] 19s [team]‘.

17-year-old Arjun Nair made his first-grade debut for Hawkesbury when he was merely 15 years old.

He was also part of the recent under-19 tri-series against New Zealand and Pakistan in Dubai. Here he contributed with 10 wickets and an 89-ball century.
