Pantelis Voulgaris's devastating WWII drama will usher in the festival's 25th year.


The Delphi Bank 25th Greek Film Festival will premiere next week with the award-winning Greek filmmaker Pantelis Voulgaris’ heart-rending drama The Last.

Starring Andreas Konstantinou and Greek-American actress Melia Kreiling, the film sees Voulgaris revisiting Greece’s turbulent past, reliving one of the darkest episodes of Nazi occupation in Greece.

The "Last Note" presents the true story of the 34-year-old political prisoner, Napoleon Sukatzidis, who acts as an interpreter to the German commander of the camp during the occupation and is in a dilemma when latter proposes to exclude him from the list of 200 Communists that going to get executed, putting someone else in his place.

The historical drama of Pantelis Voulgaris, which received positive comments during his screening in Greece, is expected to open this year's Greek Film Festival in Australian capitals.

In an interview with our program, award winning Greek director expressed his excitement that his work are being shown at a cinema festivals on the other side of the earth.
