Drew Pavlou will not be able to participate in today's meeting of the university's governing body that will discuss his case.

Today, the senate of the univerisity of Queensland will perform an out of session meeting to review the case of Mr. Pavlou. Mr Pavlou has been suspended from studying at the institution for two years, as a penalty for a number of alleged misdemeanors that the univerity claims violate it's charter. Mr Pavlou claims that his spuspension is due to his criticism of China and it's ties with the university.

A spokesperson for the university said that "it would be inconsistent with standard conflict of interest procedures if Mr Pavlou or Senate members directly involved in the appeal process were to attend". There will be an announcement after today's meeting.

The Philosophy student of Cypriot descend said that he has been barred from attending the meeting despite being a student elected member of the Senate.

The meeting was called when last week, chancellor Peter Varghese said that certain aspects of the case and the severity of the penalty caused him personal concern. Vice-chancellor Peter Hoj, whose name has been referenced in the alleged complains against Mr Pavlou will similarly also not attend, due to conflict of interest.
