COVID-19 update: Western Australia eases further restrictions

On Wednesday, Australia reported at least 36 COVID-19 deaths, including 17 in Victoria, nine in New South Wales and six in Queensland.

Western Australia has further eased restrictions following a high vaccination rate in the state.

From today (1 June), unvaccinated Australians and permanent residents are no longer required to quarantine on arrival. The weekly cap of 70 unvaccianted international (Australians and permanent) arrivals has also been removed.

Unvaccinated non-Australians are not permitted to enter Australia under Commonwealth orders.

From June 10, 2022, workers in hospitals and primary health care settings, residential aged care and residential disability setting are required to be triple dose vaccinated to enter their work premises.

However, the vaccine requirements on other workforces will be removed from the same date.

Shanghai, China's most populous city, has eased a two-month lockdown on Wednesday. All public transport has resumed, and residents have been allowed to return to work.
