On Thursday, Australia reported at least 46 COVID-19 deaths, including 23 in New South Wales (NSW), 11 in Queensland and nine in Victoria. In addition, Western Australia reported nine historical deaths.
NSW reported 1,066 people with COVID-19 in hospitals and 30 in ICUs, its lowest in the past two months.
Queensland reported 316 people with COVID-19 in hospitals, its lowest since 4 April.

Western Australia is providing free flu vaccines to all residents until the end of the month. Residents in Queensland, New South Wales, South Australia and Victoria are also eligible to get their free flu vaccine until 30 June.
WA has warned of rising syphilis (a bacterial infection usually spread by sexual contact) cases in the state. It said new cases have more than doubled between 2016 and 2020.
Researchers at the University of New South Wales in Sydney have developed a methodology that speeds up the process of isolating and characterising the risks posed by COVID-19 variants.
The methodology can also be used to measure the effectiveness of the treatments.
COVID-19 vaccinations will be available at across South Australia on Saturday from 10 am to 4:30 pm.
