On Tuesday, Australia reported at least 29 COVID-19 deaths, including 12 in Victoria, eight in New South Wales and five in South Australia. Western Australia reported two historical deaths.
Compared to the previous day, there was a rise in the number of new reported daily COVID-19 cases and hospitalisations in most states across Australia.
Victoria reported the highest daily cases on Tuesday, increasing from 7,557 on Monday to 9,181. Queensland reported a rise from 2,548 to 4,288.

Acting Chief Medical Officer Dr Sonya Bennett is encouraging all Australians able to get vaccinated for influenza to do so. The Australian Government, through the (NIP), provides a free seasonal influenza vaccine for groups at higher risk of complications from influenza. They include First Nations people, young children, pregnant women and anyone over 65.
As of yesterday, the Australian Capital Territory has made flu vaccinations free for concession card holders at its Access and Sensory Vaccination Clinic. Bookings for the Access and Sensory Vaccination Clinic in Weston for concession card holders and their children can be made by phoning 02 5124 3999 between 8am and 5pm, Monday to Friday.
From 8 June 2022, Canberrans aged 5 and over will be able to get their flu vaccinations from pharmacists. Currently pharmacists can only administer vaccines to those aged 10 and over.
All residents over the age of 6 months in New South Wales, Victoria, Queensland, Western Australia, South Australia and Tasmania are eligible for free flu shots during June.
