据华文媒体《今日悉尼》报道，涉事的是国立大学的信息科技计算机课程。
从网民上载的相片可见，教师在屏幕上显示「I will not tolerate students who cheat」的字句，再在下方加上简体中文的翻译：「我无法容忍学生作弊」。
事件引来学生质疑，指明明课堂上有来自印度、韩国的留学生，为何偏要用中文提示学生，质疑教师对中国留学生有偏见。
《今日悉尼》形容事件为另一宗「辱华丑闻」。
有中国留学生在国立大学的社交网站 Facebook 页面贴文，但被管理员删除。
该名涉事的讲师在星期一晚被逼向学生发电邮道歉，又解释指有部份学生向他表示，不是所有学生都能准确地理解这些句子，因此才加上中文的翻译。
「I was told by some students for whom English was not their first language, that the meaning of the sentences was not necessarily clear to everyone. Since a very large fraction of the class has Chinese as their first language, I thought it would help the class understand the point by printing it in Chinese as well as English.」
