Commonwealth Games: Still Bangladesh not in race

Bangladesh is participating in five events of weightlifting in the Gold Coast Commonwealth Games. Of which three events were on Friday; where they have failed. Swimmers also produce a disappointing show yesterday.

In the men's 69kg event, the weightlifter Shimul Kanti Sinha lifted 115kg in snatch but failed in all three attempts in clean and jerk while trying to lift 140kg and disqualified.

Fullapati Chakma finished 12th in the women's 53kg and Fayema Akther was placed 13th out of 15th participants in the 58kg weight event.

The beginning of the day with the failure of swimming. In the women’s 50m freestyle, Najma Khatun clocked 31.1 seconds in the first heat. Najma finished 37th out of 41 participants in the second heat. However, Ariful Islam made career-best timing. He clocked 1:07.51 seconds to reach the 100 meters of men's breaststroke event. Which is less than 0.09 seconds from his best timing. But he failed to secure a semifinal spot.


After second day of the games, home country Australia is at the top of the table with a total of 36 medals, including 14 gold.
