Donald Trump and Kim Jong-un have had their first ever face to face meeting, shaking hands as they met at the start of their historic summit in Singapore.
They have become the first sitting US and North Korean leaders to meet in person as they negotiate towards ending a decades-old nuclear standoff.
The pair met in front of a large media pack before their talks at the Capella Hotel on Sentosa Island.
Trump declared he felt "really great" about the talks.
"We will have a great discussion and I think we will be tremendously successful. It is my honour we will have a terrific relationship, I have no doubt," he said.
"Nice to meet you Mr President," Kim said as he sat down alongside Trump with the US and North Korean flags draped behind them.
Kim said North Korea and the US had overcome obstacles of a difficult history to hold the summit.
"The way to come to here was not easy," Kim said, sitting at a table with Trump.
"The old prejudices and practices worked as obstacles on our way forward but we overcame all of them and we are here today."
