A fruit company in Spain has developed an avocado which contains 30 per cent less fat that a regular avocado.
The 'Avocado Light' has been released by Eurobanan's brand, and is described as having a "smooth, shiny green skin and a delicate light flavour", as well as a juicier and lighter pulp, reports.
The is grown in in Central and South America under specific climatic and soil conditions to provide all the same nutritional benefits, but with less fat.
The Avocado Light is also fast-ripening and boasts a slow rate of oxidation, meaning it won't turn greyish brown so quickly.
The fruit's nutritional value has been independently tested by laboratories in the country of origin, and it carries the seal of approval from the Spanish Heart Foundation's Food Health Programme, certifying that it does have a reduced fat content.

It must be said that although avocados are high in fat, they are rich in healthy monounsaturated fats, which helps lower cholesterol when eaten in moderation.
"We have been importing avocados for decades," Eurobanan's import and marketing director Ramón Rey tells .
"In all this time, many customers and consumers who are passionate about this fruit have regretted not being able to incorporate it more often into their diet. Others directly pass up on their nutritional advantages because these don't compensate for their high caloric value.
Rey says the new variety will be officially launched this month at a trade show in Madrid.
It's not the first time growers have tried to put a diet spin on the avo. Avocado lovers in the US have been able to buy a lower-calorie SlimCado (although not everyone is a fan of the ).
Low-cal and low fat avos are just the latest development for the fruit that has become so popular and trendy, ad agencies declared eating them could make you a when they were challenged to make anti-avocado ads on the ABC's program.
If you want to get your hands on the new Avocado Light there's just one catch: you'll have to fly to Spain. Eurobanan only plans to sell the diet avocado in Spanish supermarkets and specialist stores for now.
