SBS podcast call out Terms and Conditions

These terms and conditions apply to the 2024 SBS call out and public submission process for podcast pitches.

Eligibility: Submissions are open to Australian residents only, aged 18 and over.
Submission Period Commences: 1 August 2024
Submission Period Closes: 11.59PM AEST/ADST Friday 30 August 2024.

  1. Application is deemed acceptance of these terms and conditions. Special Broadcasting Service Corporation (SBS) may vary these terms and conditions from time to time at its sole discretion, subject to approval of the applicable and relevant laws in the territory.
  2. All submissions must be the original creation of the applicant. By making a submission, each applicant represents and warrants that:
    a. the submission is original to the applicant;
    b. the submission does not infringe the rights of any other person or party; and
    c. all copyright materials comprising the submission are exclusively owned or controlled by the applicant.

    SBS may determine in its sole discretion that a submission is invalid if these requirements, and others prescribed in these terms and conditions, are not satisfied.
  3. To make a valid submission, applicants must complete the process outlined in the entry form during the Submission Period. Any entry received outside of the Submission Period will be deemed invalid for the purposes of this call out.
  4. Incomprehensible and incomplete submissions will be deemed invalid.
    No responsibility is accepted for late, lost, delayed or misdirected entries.
  5. SBS will not consider resubmissions, except where requested by SBS. SBS will evaluate submissions on an ongoing basis, and applicants will be notified regarding the status of their submission via their contact information (e.g. email) within 10 weeks from the end of the submission period.
  6. The ownership of all copyright material created and submitted by the applicant remains with the applicant. By submitting copyright material to SBS, the applicant grants SBS a non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to use that material for the purpose of internal consideration for the Podcast Pitch Call-Out.
  7. All applicants acknowledge and accept that;
    a. SBS is in the business of producing and broadcasting content;
    b. SBS receives numerous submissions of content and creative materials;
    c. SBS is continually developing ideas, formats, shows, stories, concepts, music and works; and
    d. Content produced or broadcast by SBS may coincidentally resemble, be similar to, or contain concepts, elements, or material found in projects submitted to SBS for consideration. By submitting a project through this program, each applicant acknowledges and accepts that SBS is not prohibited or restricted from producing, broadcasting or distributing works that contain elements, concepts or material similar to an applicant’s submission.
  8. SBS reserves the right to deem a submission invalid which, in its sole discretion, includes material that does not comply with SBS Codes and Guidelines.
  9. Applicants consent to their full names and/or their submissions being used by SBS for activities reasonably related to the conduct of this project including, but not limited to, review and deliberation. SBS may also be required to disclose personal information to its contractors or agents to assist in conducting the project.
  10. All details of the entrants will be used and preserved in accordance with the Australian Privacy Principles and the SBS Privacy Policy. A request to access, update or correct any information should be directed to the SBS privacy contact officer. Unless otherwise notified, SBS may use the entries and details of entrants for activities related to the project.
